The Parents

E-mail Print PDF

We strive to achieve a close partnership with parents/carers and the School operates an 'open door' policy. We are available for quick questions or concerns before and after school. For longer discussions we ask you to make a mutually convenient appointment. Parent consultations are held in the autumn and spring terms and are used for reporting progress and agreeing targets. Key Stage 2 pupils (7-11) attend these consultations with their parents, as we encourage children to take increasing ownership of their own learning.

Each child has a 'progress book' which comes home once or twice a term so that parents have a clear idea of what children can do and how to help them with the next learning steps. We encourage parents, grandparents and carers to support the school in a variety of ways both inside and outside of the classroom. We publish, and send by e-mail, regular newsletters and these are also available on our web site.

All children have reading record books. For the younger children, these are also used a the home/school communication book. Children in Years 4, 5 & 6 have homework diaries. We send out a questionnaire for parents each year and welcome comments about what is going well and suggestions about what we could do better.
